DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’s OFFICE

At 1:12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2022, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Communications Center received a 13-round ShotSpotter activation. Central Division Patrol Deputies were dispatched and arrived at the 5100 block of 48th Avenue in south Sacramento County, before any calls were received from the affected community. Arriving deputies located an adult male who had sustained a single gunshot to the chest and were able to immediately guide Metro Fire to him. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment and is expected to make a full recovery.

Additional arriving deputies searched for but failed to find a suspect(s). They were able to locate and collect evidence as well as canvass the area for witnesses.
