DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’s OFFICE

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on Thursday, January 20, 2022, Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, who serve at Sacramento International Airport, were dispatched to a call of suspicious subjects looking under multiple unattended vehicles in the Economy Parking lot. Through CCTV cameras, Airport Dispatch was able to see the subjects removing what appeared to be a catalytic converter from underneath a parked vehicle.

Deputies responded to the parking lot, located the subjects traveling in their vehicle and initiated a vehicle stop. Deputies also found several tools commonly used to steal catalytic converters.
