DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On December 17, 2021, shortly after 10:45 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of 20th Street and K Street regarding a report that a subject had been shot. When officers arrived at the scene, they located one victim in the street who sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers arrived on scene and attempted to render aid. Despite their efforts the victim, an adult male, was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding medical personnel.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation and will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence. The investigation is in its early stages and the motive is unknown, however it is believed that there was some type of disturbance between two groups that escalated into the shooting. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
