DETAILS FROM THE SACRAMENTO COUNTY SHERIFF’s OFFICE
At 8:43 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2021, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a call from staff at Barrett Ranch Elementary School located on the 7700 block of Ocean Park Drive in Sacramento County. The caller stated that students alerted office staff of a suitcase in the bushes near the playground that looked suspicious. Another school employee went to the location and found an abandoned case containing a firearm and a gun in plain sight next to the case.
Deputies arrived, secured the weapons and searched the school grounds No other weapons were found. The Sheriff’s Office is maintaining a high visibility at the school and is actively investigating.
