UPDATED – PALMER HOUSE DRIVE HOMICIDE SUSPECT ARRESTED

Homicide Detectives from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office identified and arrested Demonte Lavase Smith (34) of Sacramento County for the November 7, 2021 shooting death of Deandre Taylor (36). No suspects are outstanding. There is no further information at this time.

At approximately 10:03 p.m. on Sunday, November 7, 2021, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received several calls from citizens near the 7200 block of Palmer House Drive in Sacramento County stating they heard gunshots and could see a subject lying in the street.

Upon arrival, deputies located one adult male who sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper body. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding personnel from Sacramento Metro Fire.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene investigators responded to the scene, interviewed witnesses and gathered evidence. No further information or suspect information is available at this time.

The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after identification and notification of next of kin.
