THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On October 10, 2021 at approximately 12:54 a.m., Sacramento Police Department officers responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in the 5200 block of Summerbrook Way. When officers arrived, they located an adult male victim who had been shot. Officers began rendering aid and Sacramento Fire personnel arrived on scene. Despite their efforts the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by fire personnel. A short time later another adult male victim was located after he self-transported himself to a local hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have taken over the investigation. Detectives will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for evidence and possible witnesses. The circumstances that led up to this shooting remain under investigation. There is no further information to release at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
