On September 27, 2021 at approximately 9:14 p.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in the area of 2nd Street and K Street. When officers arrived, they located two victims, both adult males, who had been shot. They were both transported to local hospitals to receive medical attention and were last reported to be in stable condition.

Detectives took over the investigation and began following up on leads. Through their investigation, they were able to identify a 17-year-old male as the suspect in this investigation. On September 29, 2021, officers were able to safely take the suspect into custody and book him into Juvenile Hall on felony assault charges related to the incident.

This investigation remains active however based on preliminary information investigators believe this to be an isolated incident where an altercation between two groups escalated into the shooting. The exact motive for the altercation remains under investigation.

Detectives do not believe that there are any other outstanding suspects.
