THIS IS A DIRECT REPORST OF THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On September 12 just after 11:20 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2700 block of Fruitridge Road regarding a report of a shooting. At the scene, officers located two victims who each sustained at least one gunshot wound. The victims, both adult males, were transported to a local hospital for treatment. One victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the hospital and the other victim was last reported to be in stable condition.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. The suspect(s) fled the area prior to the arrival of officers and there is no suspect information to provide at this time. Detectives will be conducting a canvass of the area for witnesses and evidence.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
