THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On August 22, 2021 at approximately 1:02 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 2700 block of Rio Linda Boulevard for a report of a shooting that had just occurred. When officers arrived, they located an adult female who had sustained at least one life-threatening gunshot wound. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased by medical personnel.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have responded to take over the investigation. Information is limited at this time and the circumstances that led up to the shooting are under investigation. Detectives will be conducting a neighborhood canvass of the area for any potential witnesses and evidence. There is no suspect information to provide at this time.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
