Just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, the dispatch center for Watchmen Specialty Protection (who is the security provider for the River District PBID) received a call from a client stating there was a subject on their premises actively shooting a gun and there were shell casings in the driveway.

As security officers responded, the caller was directed to call 911.

When officers from the Sacramento Police Department arrived, they made contact with a subject on the sidewalk adjacent to the Inn, which fit the description but was not the shooter.

CSI responded to document the scene and collect evidence. As evidence was being gathered, and statements were being taken, the suspect was located across the street and taken into custody.

A short time later, an officer found the weapon on the property of Quality Inn down the street. According to radio reports, the gun was a 9mm Buretta stolen out of Milwaukee. The suspect was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail after his hands were swabbed by CSI for gunshot residue (GSR).
