A man wearing a Blue Knight Security uniform was apprehended late Sunday night. Sacramento Police received a report of shots fired in the area of Southside Park, off of 8th and W Streets in Downtown Sacramento.
Sacramento officers saturated the area; they located a male subject in a security uniform in possession of a high-powered rifle in the Victorian Alley off of 9th Street. The non-cooperative subject was taken into custody and the rifle was secured. According to radio reports, over 30 shell casings were located adjacent to the lake at South Side Park. No further details are available at this time.
The Sacramento Police Department (via their daily log) later stated:
Officers responded to a report of a subject firing a gun in Southside Park near the pond. Officers detained the male suspect in the area. He was found to be intoxicated and in possession of a rifle. The investigation revealed that the suspect had fired the gun in celebration of the holiday. Officers located no damage to buildings or victims of a shooting. The suspect was arrested on multiple felony weapons charges.
