Crews from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District and allied agencies, responded to reports of a commercial structure fire at Skips Fish and Chicken on Florin Road, just east of Stockton Blvd. When crews arrived they found smoke venting from the roof, but no visible fire from the roof or inside the restaurant.

As they investigated, it became apparent that the fire was isolated to the attic of the structure. As Truck crews worked to open the roof, the fire was building and as the roof was opened up, fire erupted from the structure as firefighters quickly made their way off the aerial ladder extended over the roof.

A second alarm was struck, bringing additional fire engines, fire trucks, and command staff. Fire crews eventually took a defensive stance on the fire and pulled everyone out of the building for safety.

As crews prepared to deluge the fire from aerial apparatus, they regained control of the fire and were able to switch back into an offensive mode.

No injuries were reported in the blaze.
