THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On May 15, 2021 at approximately 10:30 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the intersection of El Camino Avenue and Clay Street for a report of a vehicle vs. pedestrian collision.

When officers arrived, they located an adult female down in the roadway who had sustained major life-threatening injuries. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived and declared the victim deceased on scene. The preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been struck by a vehicle and the suspect had fled the area after the collision.

The Sacramento Police Department’s Major Collisions Investigations Unit (MCIU) and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. At this point in the investigation, information is limited and detectives do not have a suspect description to provide. Investigators will be conducting a thorough canvass of the area for any potential witnesses or evidence.

The identity of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office once next of kin have been notified.
