Just before 2:30 am Saturday, a Watchmen Specialty Protection Security Officer called out that a subject was trying to stab him.

“All available Watchmen patrol units went in route to assist him and multiple Sacramento County Sheriff's units responded code-3 (lights and sirens), to assist,” Sergeant Garidel, spokesperson for Watchmen, stated.

While the onsite security officers and the motel night auditor were returning to the office from checking an unrelated issue; the motel staff asked the officer to check on an individual loitering in a vehicle without a parking permit.

As the officer made contact, the person attempted to attack him with a hatchet, then stabbed the officer with scissors but did not penetrate the officer's jacket.

The subject was pepper-sprayed and taken into custody without further incident.

The subject sustained hand lacerations from the attempted stabbing and was treated on scene by firefighters from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District.

The suspect was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail by Sheriff’s deputies. She has been charged with Assault With a Deadly Weapon.
