Firefighters were called to at least separate fires Thursday night in Sacramento’s River District.

The first fire was reported around 7:40 p.m. on Railyards Blvd and 5th Street. Crews extinguished a fire burning in a field near the intersection.

There were reports of a subject that may have been seen setting the fire, but that person was not immediately located. A fire investigator was called to the scene.

The second fire was reported on Bercut Drive near Bannon Street. A fire crew arrived and quickly extinguished the flames which were burning trash and vegetation.

It’s unknown if the two fires are related.
