THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT’s MEDIA RELEASE

On July 15, 2020 at approximately 11:02 p.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the area of Traction Avenue and Plaza Avenue after several reports of shots fired. Officers arrived on scene and located three victims of gunshot wounds, and one victim who was possibly stabbed. Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived on scene shortly after to render medical aid. One of the victims succumbed to his injuries on scene. The other three victims were transported to local hospitals, and one victim remains in critical condition. The other two victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. All of the victims have been identified as adults.

Homicide detectives have responded to take over the investigation. Crime scene investigators are processing the scene for evidence. This investigation is in its early stage and the circumstances surrounding this incident are still under investigation.

At this time detectives believe that all involved parties have been identified and this is an isolated incident. Investigators do not believe that there are any outstanding suspects.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased after next of kin have been notified.
