On July 4, 2020 at approximately 2:11 a.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 100 block of Commerce Circle regarding a shooting that had just occurred. Officers arrived on scene and located one male adult who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived to render medical aid. Despite their efforts the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene and was pronounced deceased. Patrol officers detained a male suspect on scene who was involved in the shooting.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded to take over the investigation. Detectives have identified and interviewed the suspect in this case. The circumstances regarding this shooting are still under investigation, and the case has been forwarded to the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office for further review.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
