THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On July 1, 2020 at approximately 10:30 p.m. Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to the 5500 block of Mack Road for a report of shots fired.  On scene, officers located one 17-year-old male who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound.  The victim was rushed to a local hospital but later succumbed to his injuries.

Due to their quick response, patrol officers were also able to detain another 17-year-old male who was believed to be a suspect in the shooting. Homicide detectives responded to take over the investigation. Based on information obtained thus far the suspect was arrested and booked into Juvenile Hall on homicide charges.  This is still an active investigation and detectives have no other details to release at this time.

Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $1,000.  Anonymous tips can also be submitted using the free “P3 Tips” smartphone app.
