POLICE: Homicide Investigation – 2900 block of 33rd Avenue

THIS IS A DIRECT REPOST FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT MEDIA RELEASE

On July 1, 2020 at approximately 2:35 a.m., Sacramento Police Department patrol officers responded to a reported shooting that occurred in the 2900 block of 33rd Avenue. When officers arrived on scene they located one male adult who had sustained a life-threatening gunshot wound. Officers began life-saving measures and Sacramento Fire Department personnel arrived on scene shortly after. Despite their efforts the victim succumbed to his injuries on scene and was pronounced deceased.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators are responding to take over the investigation. They will be processing the scene and conducting a neighborhood canvass for witnesses. Information is limited at this point and the motive remains unknown.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
