Just before 11 p.m. Thursday, a caller advised that someone had crashed their car into his house in the 4000 block of Chapel Way in North Highlands.

Once firefighters arrived they located the vehicle sitting on the lawn, right up against the home. The vehicle had knocked over the street sign and caused moderate damage to the home.

The driver of the vehicle had fled the scene. Officers from the California Highway Patrol conducted an area search, but were unable to locate the subject.

The male occupant of the home was not injured in the crash.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
