On Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at approximately 3:44 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6700 block of Calvine Road regarding a welfare check. When officers arrived on scene, they located a female adult victim who had been fatally stabbed.

Roseville officers located a vehicle matching the description given by detectives. Officers requested the driver, later confirmed to be Ehsan, to exit the vehicle but he did not comply. While officers were surrounding the vehicle, Ehsan attempted to drive away.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., the Roseville Police Department received an alert to be on the lookout for 44 year old Asghar Ehsan. Sacramento detectives advised that Ehsan was considered armed, and gave Roseville officers a description of Ehsan's vehicle.

At approximately 7:30 p.m. Roseville officers located a vehicle matching the description given by detectives. Officers requested the driver, later confirmed to be Ehsan, to exit the vehicle but he did not comply. While officers were surrounding the vehicle, Ehsan attempted to drive away.

While attempting to flee from the scene, an officer had to jump out of the way of the moving vehicle.

Ehsan attempted to drive onto North Sunrise Blvd but hit a Roseville Transit bus, at which point his vehicle became disabled. Ehsan then attempted to run from officers but he was quickly taken into custody.

No officers were injured during the incident. One citizen who was inside the bus reported minor injuries. Ehsan also had minor injuries and was transported to the hospital.

According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office jail roster, Ehsan was released from the hospital sometime overnight, and booked into the Sacramento Main Jail around 4:30 a.m. Wednesday. Ehsan is being held on a felony murder charge, and is ineligible for bail. His arraignment is scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
