UPDATE FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT

Sacramento Police Department detectives have made an arrest for a homicide that occurred in the 3100 block of Crandall Avenue. Earlier this week, detectives arrested 36-year-old Tristan Cook on charges of murder and attempted murder. Homicide detectives continue to investigate this case, and believe that there are no outstanding suspects. Based on information gathered at this point, investigators do not believe that this was a random incident.

On January 5, 2020, at approximately 11:16 p.m. Officers responded to the 3100 block of Crandall Ave regarding reports of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they located two male adults and one female adult who had sustained gunshot wounds.

Responding officers administered first aid until relieved by fire personnel. Sacramento Fire Department medics transported the victims to a local hospital. The two male victims are expected to survive their injuries and are in stable condition. The female victim later succumbed to her injuries at a local hospital.

Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation.

At this time, a motive for the shooting has not been determined. Based on preliminary information, detectives believe this was an isolated incident and there is no current threat to our community related to this investigation.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the victim after next of kin have been notified.
