Early Tuesday morning, Sacramento police officers initiated a pursuit with a suspect who had a felony warrant out for his arrest. The felony warrant was for a violent offense. The suspect refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit from Sacramento to Rancho Cordova. The pursuit ended when the suspect stopped his vehicle at a gas station on the corner of Sunrise Blvd and Jackson Road. The suspect then began acting erratically and locked himself inside his vehicle. Officers tried to communicate with the suspect, but the suspect refused to exit the vehicle, causing a standoff to ensue.

Due to the location, the Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT) responded and took over the scene. Negotiators tried to communicate with the suspect, but the suspect still failed to comply with instructions.

After the nearby businesses were safely evacuated, the SWAT team utilized chemical agents to subdue the suspect. After using a drone to confirm nothing was in the suspect's hands, the SWAT team broke the vehicle windows and safely removed the suspect, taking him in to custody. The suspect was found to be hiding under a blanket, using drugs, and completely naked. SWAT officers gave the suspect a blanket after taking him in to custody. The suspect was handed off to the Sacramento police officers.
