Shortly after 5 a.m. on Wednesday, July 24, 2019, Sheriff’s deputies assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department responded to the 2000 block of El Manto Drive in Rancho Cordova to assist fire personnel who were at the scene of a vehicle fire.

Fire personnel extinguishing the fire located a deceased person inside the burning vehicle. The gender, age and/or ethnicity of the person is unknown at this time.

Sheriff’s detectives are on scene, along with Crime Scene Investigators. The victim, in this case, will be identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.
