Thursday evening, both the Sacramento Fire Department and the Sacramento Police Department were summoned to the 5100 block of Stockton Boulevard, for a report of a structure fire at an abandoned restaurant.

"Officers responded to the area due to a report of a structure fire." Sacramento Police Department stated. "Responding officers received information that a subject started the fire and was still in the area. The subject was located and detained. SFD Arson investigators responded and took over the arson investigation."

Captain Keith Wade, Public Information Officer for the Sacramento Fired Department, stated the following in a media release Friday evening: "On 07/18/2019 at 20:49 hours, the Sacramento Fire Department responded to the 5100 block of Stockton Boulevard for a commercial structure fire. The involved structure was a vacant restaurant. The fire was confined to the exterior of the structure causing approximately $15,000 in fire damage.

"A Sacramento Fire Arson Investigator conducted a thorough investigation and determined that Jack Burgeson, age 51, deliberately set fire to the structure. Sacramento Police Department assisted with Burgeson's identification and apprehension. Burgeson faces a charge of 451-C, Arson of a Structure.
