UPDATE FROM THE SACRAMENTO POLICE DEPARTMENT

On Tuesday July 2, 2019 at approximately 8:00 am, Sacramento Police Detectives began investigating a case involving an unidentified child who had been dropped off at a local fire station. The prior day, Sacramento Sheriff’s Office was involved in this investigation, but it was determined that the events leading up to the child being dropped off at the fire station, occurred in the City of Sacramento. A female who has identified herself as the mother of the child has been contacted but this investigation remains ongoing. The child is currently under protective custody while detectives investigate this case.

UPDATE FROM THE SACRAMENTO SHERIFF's OFFICE

The Sacramento Sheriff’s Office is in contact with a woman who identified Jane DOE as her daughter. Detectives believe she is, in fact, DOE’s mother and are working on confirming that relationship.

An investigation into the facts surrounding the circumstances described below revealed that the events occurred within the City of Sacramento. As such, the investigation will be handled by the Sacramento Police Department. The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and media for their efforts in identifying Jane DOE and reuniting her with her mother.

The Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying Jane DOE (see attached).

On Monday June 30, 2019, a citizen brought Jane DOE to a local fire station after an unknown Hispanic female left Jane DOE with the citizen.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the identity of Jane DOE to please contact the Sheriff’s Office at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
