UPDATE- JUNE 14, 2019

Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives arrested a 17-year-old male juvenile for murder. The victim in this case was the suspect’s sister’s boyfriend. The shooting occurred during a verbal and physical dispute involving the victim and suspect.

The suspect was booked into the Sacramento County Juvenile Hall. His identity will not be released at this time because he is a juvenile.

The identity of the victim will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification has been made to his next of kin.

At 10:04 a.m. on Thursday June 13, 2019, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a family disturbance in the 9100 block of Pershing Avenue in Orangevale. Upon arrival, deputies found a white male in his early 20’s suffering from a gunshot wound to his upper body. The victim was transported to an area hospital by fire personnel, where he was pronounced dead.

A male juvenile, in his late teens, has been detained for questioning related to the shooting. No suspects are outstanding.

Detectives are currently on scene, along with Crime Scene Investigators. At this time, detectives have not identified a motive for the shooting, nor have they confirmed the relationship between the parties involved.

The identity of the homicide victim, in this case, will be made available by the Sacramento County Coroner’s office after notification has been made to his next of kin.
