Around 5:18 Tuesday evening, Sacramento police officers responded to the 700 block of Northfield Drive in North Sacramento for reports of multiple subjects fighting and several gunshots being heard. Officers arrived on scene and contacted several people. Officers discovered one person had been shot and had left the scene in a vehicle prior to their arrival.

Around 5:26, approximately 8 minutes after the initial call in North Sacramento, Downtown patrol officers responded to the area of 12th and I Streets regarding a report of a subject who had been shot. When officers arrived on scene they located the victim who had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local area hospital for treatment.

The subjects with the victim fled on foot when officers arrived. Both subjects fled into the Governor's Mansion property on the corner of 16th and I Streets. One of the subjects was apprehended on the front portion of the property, while the other subject was apprehended in the pool area in the back of the property. Officers from the CHP's Governor's Protection Detail were on property at the time of the incident, and helped with the apprehension.

Two handguns were recovered from the vehicle they ran from. Officers determined the victim had been shot in the north area of the city.
