The two-vehicle crash happened on northbound Interstate 5 near Arena Boulevard. Officials say the two drivers then began to fight on the highway. The drivers then proceeded to drive down the highway, stopping again near Del Paso Road, and again started fighting with each other.

One of the drivers sustained fatal injuries because of the fight. The other driver, now the suspect in the incident, began to walk on the highway and was hit by a passing motorist, resulting in fatal injuries.

The passing motorist who hit the suspect on the highway stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the CHP.
