SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Two people were taken to the hospital after an overnight house fire.

Around 1:35 Sunday morning, Sacramento firefighters responded to a home on El Cerrito Way near Orinda Avenue.

When crews arrived, they reported heavy fire showing from the garage portion of the home with power lines down. Firefighters quickly went into attack mode and got the fire knocked down within a matter of minutes.

On the primary search of the home, firefighters found a victim inside. The victim was rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately known. A second victim was able to escape prior to firefighters’ arrival; they were taken to a local hospital as well. Their injuries were not immediately known.

A total of four people will be displaced due to the fire.
