17-233446 (Assault on an Officer): 7700 block of College Town Dr at 4:51pm
Officers responded for a possible driver under the influence in the 7700 block of College Town Drive. Officers arrived and attempted to detain the subject whom was still seated in his running vehicle. The suspect was uncooperative with officers and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. The suspect became highly combative and resistive, biting and punching the officer in the side of the head. The suspect also attempted to take the officer’s gun from him during the struggle. The officer was able to hold the subject on the ground until additional units arrived to assist in taking him into custody. The officer sustained minor injuries during this incident. The suspect was arrested on assault charges and resisting arrest. The suspect however was first transported for a medical evaluation before jail.
