SACRAMENTO COUNTY, Calif. – Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a gas station employee in Sacramento County.

Just before 10:30 Tuesday night, Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of a shooting that just occurred at the Chevron gas station on the corner of Florin Road and French Road.

When deputies arrived, they found a 20-year-old male victim on the ground outside the convenience store suffering from apparent gunshot wounds to the chest. Paramedics responded and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene. The victim was an employee of the gas station.

Deputies learned that one of the employees of the gas station was cleaning the gas station parking lot. At one point he had a verbal altercation with two to three suspects that were loitering in the parking lot. One of the suspects physically assaulted the employee during the verbal altercation. That employee went inside the store to call 911 about the assault. His co-worker (victim) then exited the store and was approached by these same suspects. One of the suspects produced a handgun and fired several shots at the victim, inevitably killing him.

The suspects were described as three Hispanic male adults. They fled the scene in a light colored compact car south on Florin-Perkins Road.

The identity of the victim was later released by the Coroner’s Office as 20-year-old Elk Grove resident Simranjit Singh.

Detectives are asking anyone with information relating to this incident, to please contact the Sheriff’s Department at (916) 874-5115 or Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP. Tip information may also be left anonymously at www.sacsheriff.com or by calling (916) 874-TIPS (8477).
