ELK GROVE, Calif. – Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a man found inside a vehicle in Elk Grove.

Just after 9:05 PM Monday, police officers responded to the Avery Woods Apartments located at 7015 Elk Grove Boulevard for multiple reports of shots fired.

When police officers arrived in the area, they located a vehicle parked in the back parking lot of the apartment complex. The vehicle had an adult male victim sitting in the driver’s seat, unresponsive and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics responded to the scene and declared the victim deceased.

The scene around the vehicle was secured by police officers while detectives responded to take over the investigation.

No suspect description was available, but police say the suspect may be driving a blue four-door sedan.

Police say a person possibly related to the incident arrived at a local area hospital. No information was given on that person’s connection or injury status.

The name of the victim will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office one the next-of-kin has been notified.
