Crash involving semi-truck and car shuts down Highway 12 in Isleton

ISLETON, Calif. – A crash involving big rig has blocked traffic on Highway 12 in the Isleton area.

At 10:46 Monday morning, officers and paramedics responding to Highway 12 just east of Highway 160 in the Isleton area for a reported semi-truck versus passenger vehicle.

When units arrived, they found a big rig and a car that had collided. There was major damage and multiple patients located. A CalSTAR medical helicopter responded to the scene and transported one patient to a local area hospital for treatment. The other patients involved were transported via ground ambulance. The extent of injuries to the involved parties was not immediately known.

Highway 12 east of Highway 160 was shut down during the crash investigation, and westbound lanes remained closed while tow trucks responded to remove the involved vehicles. The roadway was reopened at 12:05 PM.

The cause of the crash is under investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Responding agencies included the California Highway Patrol, Rio Vista Fire Department, River Delta Fire Protection District, Medic Ambulance and CalSTAR Air Ambulance.
