ELK GROVE, Calif. – A bicyclist was hit-and-killed by a vehicle on a busy Elk Grove street this morning.
Just after 6:35 Tuesday morning, paramedics and officers responded to a reported bicycle versus vehicle collision on Laguna Boulevard near High Tech Court.
When units arrived, they found bicyclist suffering from apparent injuries sustained from being hit by a motor vehicle.
Paramedics transported the bicyclist to a local area hospital where, despite lifesaving efforts, they were pronounced deceased.
Elk Grove Police Department’s Traffic Unit was called to the collision scene to begin their investigation into how the incident occurred. Two lanes of westbound Laguna Boulevard near High Tech Court were shut down for a few hours after the incident for the investigation.
At the time of posting, it was unknown if the driver of the vehicle who hit the bicyclist stayed on scene or not.
The name of the victim will be released at a later time by the Sacramento County Coroner.
