SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Firefighters extinguished a house fire Wednesday night in South Sacramento.

Just after 10:40 Wednesday night, firefighters from the Sacramento Fire Department responded to a reported house fire on the 4100 block of Marsalla Court, in the area of 14th Avenue and 65th Street.

When crews arrived, they reported seeing heavy black smoke showing from the garage of a one-story home. After a quick investigation, it was determined the fire was being held to the garage, and crews began their fire attack.

Within a matter of minutes, firefighters had successfully extinguished the fire and contained it to the garage, saving the rest of the home from any fire damage.

Three adults and three dogs inside the home at the time of the fire were able to escape without any injuries.

Fire officials say working smoke detectors and the home’s fire wall helped minimize damage to the rest of the home.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
