SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Police are investigating after finding a woman’s body floating Friday morning on the American River.
Around 10:20 Friday morning, Sacramento State (CSUS) Police officers requested the fire department respond to the American River near the Guy West Bridge for a reported body in the water.
Upon further investigation, police located the body floating face down on the river between the Guy West Bridge and the J Street Bridge. Firefighters responded in their fire boats to the body’s location, and determined the body to be that of a woman of an unknown age, deceased.
Sacramento Police responded to take over the investigation, in which they initiated a homicide detective callout. It is still unknown at this point how the unidentified woman died.
