WALNUT GROVE – Sheriff’s detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that happened Sunday evening in Walnut Grove.
Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded around 10:20 Sunday night for reports of a person shot on Railroad Avenue near Depot Lane in Walnut Grove.
When deputies arrived, they found person who had been shot. Fire personnel from the Walnut Grove Fire Protection District started life-saving measures on the victim, while requesting an air ambulance to respond. Despite all life-saving attempts, the person was pronounced deceased on scene a short time later.
Detectives from the department’s homicide division will be investigating the circumstances surrounding the death. At time of posting, no official suspect description has been released.
The identity of the victim has yet to be released pending notification to the victim’s family.
