SACRAMENTO, CA – Police are investigating a double shooting that occurred Monday evening in South Sacramento that left two men with life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 6200 block of Lemon Hill Avenue in South Sacramento for reports of shots fired. When officers arrived, they discovered what appeared to be evidence of an exchange of gunfire in a residential neighborhood. At the time, officers were unable to locate any victims or suspects.

Early on in the investigation, officers were alerted that a subject showed up to an area hospital with a gunshot injury and was believed to be related to this incident. Soon thereafter, it was determined that an uninvolved adult victim was struck with gunfire while inside of his apartment, in a neighboring complex.

Homicide and gang detectives were summoned to the scene and continue to investigate. The shooting is possibly gang related, police say. Both men continue to be treated at an area hospital for life threatening injuries.
