SACRAMENTO, CA (Arden-Arcade) – Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department were involved in a high-speed pursuit Wednesday through the Arden-Arcade portion of Sacramento.

Sheriff POP deputies attempted to stop a newer red Dodge Challenger for a traffic violation near Auburn Blvd. and Business 80. When the driver failed to yield to the unmarked patrol vehicle, a pursuit started northbound on Auburn Blvd near Orange Grove Avenue.

The driver then turned eastbound on Orange Grove Avenue. After turning into a housing development, the driver turned down a cul-de-sac, turned around, and attempted to ram the undercover patrol vehicle with his vehicle.

The pursuit eventually made it back out on Orange Grove Avenue, back towards Auburn Blvd., then northbound to Myrtle Avenue.

Deputies lost sight of the Challenger for a short time in a housing development near Myrtle Avenue and Hemlock Street. After coming back out of the neighborhood, it appeared the driver was going to ram another Sheriff’s deputy who had joined the pursuit, but seems to have failed.

The pursuit continued on Myrtle Ave back towards Winding Way. After turning southbound on Winding Way, Sheriff’s deputies lost sight of the vehicle. A citizen nearby told deputies he continued southbound on Auburn Blvd. from Winding Way.

Another Sheriff’s deputy nearby caught up with the Challenger near Auburn Blvd. and Watt Avenue. After continuing southbound on Watt Avenue, the driver went eastbound on Whitney Ave towards Morse Ave. The driver then turned southbound Morse Avenue.

The pursuit came to and end in front of a house on the 3000 block of Polk Avenue, near Morse Avenue. The driver was successfully taken into custody by Sheriff’s deputies.

A records search of the vehicle identification number turned up to be a stolen vehicle out of San Jose, and the suspect description from San Jose appeared to be that of the driver whom Sheriff’s deputies had in custody.
