SACRAMENTO, CA (Rosemont) – Deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department responded to a report of a home burglary early Tuesday morning on Autumnwood Drive in the Rosemont community of Sacramento County.
Around 2:10 Tuesday morning, Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 8900 block of Autumnwood Drive. Deputies were told by the homeowner that someone had attempted to break into the residence. An adult family member reportedly then shot the suspected burglar from inside the residence.
The suspected burglar was then seen running away from the residence before the Sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Deputies say they found a cut window screen at the possible point of entry into the residence. Inside the residence, deputies found shell casings where the resident had shot the suspect burglar. The resident was able to identify the suspected burglar by first name, who is possibly a frequent visitor of a neighborhood residence. Deputies found no blood inside or outside the residence nor did they locate the suspect.
Sheriff officials say that detectives will take over the case and investigate and that no arrests have been made at this point, nor do the residents appear to have any injuries.
