RANCHO CORDOVA, CA – Firefighters from the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District extinguished a bedroom fire inside a two-story residence on the 2900 block of Calle del Sol Way in Rancho Cordova on Sunday morning.

Fire district officials stated the fire was contained to one bedroom in the residence. Rancho Cordova Police and code enforcement officials were dispatched due to a hoarding situation at the residence.

Three dogs were inside the residence. One dog escaped, another was rescued by firefighters, while the third dog was pronounced deceased.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
