SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento Police responded early Thursday morning to a report of a man down and possibly shot.

At approximately 4:40 Thursday morning, officers from the Sacramento Police Department responded to the 7800 block of Center Parkway regarding a report of a subject down and possibly shot. A passerby, walking in the area, noticed the man lying on the west sidewalk of Center Parkway and called police.

Officers arrived to find the victim, a male in his 30s, who had apparently sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Sacramento Fire Department also responded and ultimately declared the victim deceased on scene.

Detectives were summoned along with CSI, to assist with collecting evidence at the scene.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had been walking in the area when he is believed to have been shot. Officers performed a canvas of the area and discovered gunshots were heard by area residents, earlier in the morning, but police were not notified at that time.

A specific motive for the shooting is not yet known and detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident.
