SACRAMENTO, CA – Sacramento Police responded around 11:20 Sunday morning to a report of a man shot in a parking lot near the 1400 block of Meadowview Road in South Sacramento.

Officers arrived and located an unresponsive 20-year-old man in a vehicle with an apparent gunshot injury.

Sacramento Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, administered CPR, and the man was rushed to an area hospital. Despite life-saving efforts, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim had driven a vehicle into the large business parking lot when he was shot. The unknown suspect(s), who were also in a vehicle, fired multiple shots toward the victim from their car, before fleeing the area.

The suspects were last seen fleeing in their car westbound on Meadowview Road toward Freeport Boulevard. The vehicle was described as an older model 4-door sedan.

Homicide Detectives along with Crime Scene Investigators responded to assist. The investigation continues to be ongoing and a specific motive is still not yet known. No arrests have been made at this time.
