911 dispatchers began to receive calls of shots fired in the area of 21st Avenue and 35th Street Tuesday evening, then a call came in that a subject had been shot, said Sergeant David Nasca, Sacramento Police Department.

When officers arrived they found a woman in her 50’s had been shot in the chest. She was transported to UC Davis Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, Nasca said.

A grey vehicle with several subjects in it was involved, said Nasca, however a motive or if the victim was even the intended target is unclear.

21st Avenue between 34th and 35th Streets was closed during the investigation and Regional Transit buses had to be rerouted.
