Deputies responded to a report of a robbery at O’Reilly Auto Parts store in North Highlands Thursday evening.

When Sacramento Sheriff Department’s Sergeant Chirs Berg arrived on scene at O’Reilly’s, in the 4400 block of Elkhorn Boulevard,  he found his deputies performing CPR on an employee who was shot by the suspect.

“One of the store employees stabbed the robber, the robber then shot him,” said Berg. “The employee was unconscious when we got here and we have found out that he has passed.”

“We got the call at 7:14p.m. of an armed robbery with an employee shot. We got here and an employee was down on the ground with a gunshot wound. We found out that the armed robber came in to rob it. One of the store employees stabbed him with a knife and the robber shot him. He was totally unresponsive when we got here. He was transported to the hospital; the hospital did everything they could for him and he has passed away,” Berg said.

The suspect remains at large after a large perimeter and search of the surrounding neighborhood. The suspect is described as a black male, 18 to 25 years old, 5’6” to 5’8”, skinny, with a black hoodie and a black baseball cap.
