Roadway Blocked for Three Hours

The California Highway Patrol and Caltrans had a busy morning along southbound I-5 in Downtown Sacramento.

The driver of a dry hauler tractor-trailer rig jackknifed while attempting to avoid a collision that occurred in front of him near the J St off ramp just before 4am.

The incident caused a large hydraulic fluid spill and spread across the right three lanes of the interstate. Crews reduced traffic to the far left lane until 7am while they worked to clean up the mess.

The original collision involved a garbage truck and a passenger car, no one was injured in either incident.
