City trash truck hits bicyclist in Midtown

Allegedly, a City of Sacramento trash truck was traveling northbound on 21st St. A bicyclist was also traveling northbound on the west side of 21st.

Just a few blocks from Brown’s Sacramento residence the trash truck turned west onto Capitol Ave. from 21st Street, striking the bicyclist as he was traveling.

This on the heels of the new three-foot passing law, AB1371, coming into effect shortly for California motorists. Governor Brown signed the new bill into law this past September.

The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with a major hand injury from being rolled on by the truck, according to an officer at the scene.

Investigators are at the scene.
