Sacramento, CA | The solo occupant of a vehicle was killed early Saturday morning when his car crashed and burst into flames.

Early Saturday morning, a vehicle traveling south on highway 99 from Florin was traveling at a slow rate of speed and straddling the slow lane and shoulder at approx 65MPH according to CHP.

The vehicle then accelerated, went completely onto the shoulder launched over a drainage culvert landing on the south end of a freeway barrier, flipped over and burst into flames. Another motorist attempted to kick out the windshield but was unable to get the driver out.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. It was still too early to discover if alcohol was a factor and the incident is under investigation. No other vehicles were involved and the driver was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
