Sacramento, CA | CHP and Sacramento Sheriff’s deputies chase a crane knocking out power poles and lines down Jackson Highway.
Early Thursday morning CHP and Sacramento Sheriff Deputies chased a large crane east on Jackson Highway. The suspect driving the crane knocked down several power poles on Jackson Highway from Grantline to Dillard, then at least two poles on Dillard before he was stopped and taken into custody.
According to SSD radio traffic, and various times throughout the pursuit the subject angled the large equipment at pursuing officers and engaged them with the boom.
As of this posting, SMUD is reporting over 5000 customers in the area are without power. Jackson Highway is closed in both directions between Grant Line Rd. to Kiefer Blvd. and Dillard Rd. is closed east of Jackson Highway.
